THE SECOND EDITION OF THE INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM ReActing as a Star
The second edition of the ReActing as a Star program took place in the Slovenian city of Bled from 15th till 17th of June 2023 where actors, directors, casting directors and talent agents met and were united to exchange experiences. This international program is dedicated to introduce actors from the Balkan region to the international market.
ReActing as a Star is an initiative of the Slovenian Film Center and Secret Arts Cinema as the producers of the project, in partnership with film centers and funds from Serbia, Croatia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, CineLink Industry Days Sarajevo Film Festival, and in cooperation with the European Film Academy, the International hiring a casting director and the Filmmakers.eu platform. Starting this year, the ReActing as a Star program carries the Knowledge Sharing label of the European Film Academy as an outstanding European training program.
Second year in a row, Slavic Artists Management – first talent agency in Serbia, was honored to be a guest of the program and its representatives participated in a panel discussion entitled “Talent agents vs casting directors: Who does what and why in our region?” that was held on the second day of the program. The moderator of the panel was Timka Green, casting director from Sarajevo and president of the International Casting Directors Association (ICDA), while the panel speakers were two talent agents – Bojana Rnjak (Slavic Artists Management) and Anila Gajević (Zona Talent Agency), as well as casting directors from the region – Kirjana Nikolovska (Northern Macedonia) and Ljubimka Pavasović and Sanja Gregorčić from Slovenia. The discussion was organized as an introduction to the actors with the differences between these two professions, but also the inevitable importance of cooperation between talent agents and casting directors in the film industry.
19 actors and actresses from the region of the Ex-Yugoslavia took part in this year’s program selection, among whom are clients of the Slavic Artists agency: Branka Katić (SRB), Borka Tomović (SRB), Anita Ognjanović (SRB), Dino Bajrović (BiH), Nebojša Rako (SLO), Nika Rozman (SLO), Slavko Sobin (CRO) and Tihana Ćulafić (MNE).
The participants of the second panel were directors Srdan Golubović (SRB), Dubravka Turić (CRO) and Damjan Kozole (SLO), while on the last day of the program the actors participated in workshops with internationally recognized casting directors – Cassandra Han and Jeremy Zimmermann where they had the opportunity to learn about acting and filming in the international projects and how to implement the knowledge and skills in their acting careers.
Bojana Rnjak, agent of the Slavic Artists talent agency, pointed out that: “The importance of presence and participation in such a program for the agency is great, since the vision of Slavic Artists agency arose from the desire to provide a platform that promotes rich and exceptional acting talent from the Balkan region. Presenting the agency’s clients with international film industry professionals is the goal the agency strives for.”
Clients of the Slavic Artists agency such as Milena Božić, Josip Ledina, Dževded Jašari, Alena Džebo, Kerim Čutuna, Maruša Majer, Milica Šćepanović, Tamara Ristoska, Zorica Nuševa and Jelena Graovac Lučev also participated in last year’s edition of the program.
