Željko Maksimović is an actor, translator, and performer. Before enrolling to the Faculty of Dramatic Arts’ Acting department, he studied English language and literature and Japanese language at the University of Belgrade.
Željko has worked and lived between Prague and Belgrade for several years, working on numerous projects, primarily with the renowned Czech directorial duo SKUTR.
He has also translated numerous works by authors such as Tanja Šljivar, Dino Pešut, Filip Grujić, and Mate Ugrin into English, most of them published in the USA.
Besides working in the theater, since 2019 Željko has been collaborating with visual artist Ivana Ivković in her grandiose performance pieces, and in 2022, he worked with artist Selma Selman on the conceptualization of her solo performance for the renowned documenta exhibition in Kassel.
With theater director Ana Konstantinović, he leads the Eho animato independent art collective, implementing EU sponsored project, and collaborating with numerous art organization, most notably New York City’s La MaMa theater.
